Industrial Engineer Intern

Scope of Work:  

The Industrial Engineer Intern is responsible for discovering ways to eliminate wastefulness in production processes and formulate efficient systems that integrate workers, machines, materials, information, and energy to make product. 

  • Collect and review production data to ensure implemented process improvements are sustained 
  • Identify and support production quality processes and procedures 
  • Document manufacturing work processes and write operator instructions 
  • Participate, lead and facilitate kaizen events to improve internal LEAN manufacturing 
  • Communicate solutions to manufacturing issues using Six Sigma, Lean Methodologies, DMAIC process, DOE, FMEA, Process Mapping, etc. 
  • Research and review industry trends and technological advancements for products and processes 
  • Work with cross-functional teams in the plan and design of new products to ensure products are designed for manufacturability 
  • Utilize documented best practices and lessons learned to trouble shoot process problems and solve machinery issues 
  • Research and understand industry advances for product improvement 
  • Additional duties as required by mentor 

 

Experience/Abilities: 

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Industrial Engineering or a related field. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Knowledge of industrial engineering principles and methodologies. 
  • Proficiency in data analysis and process improvement techniques. 
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma and Lean methodologies is a plus. 
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy. 
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn.
