Job Summary: A web designer is responsible for creating visually appealing and user-friendly websites. Web designers will also collaborate with clients or internal stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into functional and aesthetic design solutions. This role will involve combining artistry with technical proficiency to deliver engaging websites that enhance user experience and achieve business objectives.
Job Duties:
- Website Design and Layout: create visually engaging and responsive website layouts using HTML/CSS and other web design technologies. Design web pages, including graphics, animations, and functionality, that align with the company’s brand and objectives.
- Graphic Design and Image Editing: design graphics, icons, and other visual elements for use on websites. Manipulate and optimize digital images for web use, ensuring they maintain quality and load efficiently.
- Front-End Development: translate website designs into front-end code (HTML/CSS/JavaScript). Ensure cross-browser and cross-device compatibility. Implement responsive design techniques to ensure websites render well on difference devices.
- Content Management: integrate content provided. Update and maintain websites to ensure content is current and accurate.
- SEO Optimization: Implement basic SEO principles in web design and development to improve search engine rankings. Optimize website performance for speed and efficiency.
- Testing and Debugging: test completed websites for functionality, usability, and accessibility. Identify and troubleshoot any issues or bugs that arise during development or testing.
- Stay Updated: Keep abreast of industry needs, best practices, and emerging technologies in web design and development. Continuously improve skills and knowledge through self-learning and professional development opportunities.
- Documentation and Communication: document design specifications, processes, and guidelines. Communicate effectively with team members, clients, and stakeholders throughout the design and development process.
Knowledge, Education, Experience and/or Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in web design, graphic design, computer science, or a related field is preferred.
- Courses or certifications in web design, UI/UX design, and front-end development.
- Practical experience as a web designer through internships, or full-time (5 years or more)
- Strong portfolio
- Proficient in WordPress/WooCommerce
- Creativity, problem solving, attention to detail, communication, time management, adaptability.
